A fire drill tested employee preparedness
A fire drill was conducted at Tawescu Automotive in Úvaly and Pečky, during which we tested the preparedness of our colleagues, fire patrols, and technical systems in the event of an emergency. Employees were not informed of the drill in advance. Nevertheless, the evacuation of the production hall proceeded quickly and safely—within five minutes.
The drill also included a practical demonstration of how to use fire extinguishers. Occupational safety and health technicians from the Promet Group reminded employees how to respond correctly in the event of a fire and which types of fire extinguishers are suitable for different types of fires.
“Such drills help us verify that both employees and fire patrols respond correctly and that all established processes and technical equipment are functioning,” said Petr Gajda from the OHS department. This was the second drill held at Tawesco Automotive in the last three years, and they are conducted on a random basis.
Similar drills are a standard part of safety measures in manufacturing companies and are also related to the certification requirements and quality and safety management systems mandated by the automotive industry. Tawesco Automotive holds IATF 16949 certification for the automotive industry.
The entire event lasted approximately half an hour, including the subsequent evaluation and briefing. We, of course, notified the fire department in advance of the fire drill to avoid a false alarm.
